What You’ll Do

As a Senior Broadcast Network Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our broadcast network infrastructure, ensuring seamless transmission of live and recorded content. You’ll play a critical role in integrating traditional and IP-based workflows while maintaining security, compliance, and high availability.

Network Design & Implementation

  • Design and deploy IP-based broadcast networks, including SMPTE 2110, NDI, and multicast architectures.
  • Develop resilient, low-latency networking solutions for live broadcast environments.
  • Integrate traditional SDI infrastructure with modern IP-based workflows.

Broadcast Network Operations & Maintenance

  • Monitor and optimize broadcast network performance to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot complex IP-based audio, video, and control network issues.
  • Manage QoS (Quality of Service) and bandwidth for live content distribution.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement firewalls, VLAN segmentation, and encryption to secure broadcast signals.
  • Ensure compliance with SMPTE, EBU, and industry best practices.
  • Protect against cyber threats targeting broadcast and streaming environments.

Optimisation & Upgrades

  • Assess network performance and recommend redundancy and failover strategies.
  • Upgrade hardware, software, and infrastructure to support new broadcast technologies.
  • Implement cloud-based and hybrid broadcast network solutions (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with broadcast engineers, IT teams, and vendors to support live productions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Tabcorp’s Network teams on shared infrastructure and media requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain network topology diagrams, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Document troubleshooting procedures and best practices.
  • Generate performance, incident, and improvement reports.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5 years plus experience in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Equivalent industry experience in broadcast and network environments may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or CCIE (advanced routing, switching, multicast).
  • Arista ACE Level 2 or 3.
  • Broadcast & Media Technologies:
  • SMPTE Certified Broadcast Networking Engineer (CBNE) (expertise in SMPTE 2110, AES67, and IP video transport).

Security & Cloud:

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CCNP Security (for securing live and on-demand broadcast streams).
