About Tabcorp

Tabcorp is famous for creating winning moments – and behind almost all of them is great technology and an exceptional team. Operating in one of Australia’s most highly regulated digital environments, our technology platforms must meet the highest standards of quality, resilience and compliance.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Quality & Test Assurance Manager to take end-to-end accountability for technology quality and release readiness across our IT builds.

This role acts as the independent quality authority for technology delivery – determining whether solutions are ready to progress, release and operate through clear standards, strong testing practices and evidence‑based assurance.

This is a hybrid leadership role designed for someone who brings together deep experience in software testing and quality engineering with formal quality management and regulatory assurance capability.

It is not a squad‑level QA role, and not a pure audit function. Success comes from credibility with engineers and confidence with executives and regulators.

What you’ll do

  • Technology quality & test leadership
  • Own quality across the full software development lifecycle, embedding fit‑for‑purpose testing across unit, integration, system, performance, security and UI layers.
  • Define, implement and enforce quality standards including Definition of Ready, Definition of Done and minimum testing evidence for release.
  • Act as the quality gatekeeper for technology releases, providing clear, evidence‑based readiness assessments and the confidence to stop or delay releases when standards are not met.
  • Establish scalable automation and CI/CD quality practices that support delivery speed without compromising control.
  • Drive root cause analysis, systemic defect reduction and continuous quality improvement across delivery teams.
  • Mentor and uplift quality capability across teams, influencing engineering practices and ways of working.

Quality management & assurance

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a Quality Management System (QMS) aligned to ISO 9001:2015 and/or CMMI Level 4/5.
  • Design and deliver a structured quality maturity uplift roadmap within a complex, regulated environment.
  • Establish quality metrics, reporting and executive dashboards that demonstrate compliance posture and operational integrity.
  • Oversee internal and external audits, independent assessments and regulatory reviews, ensuring strong traceability and defensible evidence.
  • Maintain quality artefacts including policies, process maps, controls and documentation to support auditability and regulatory confidence.

Stakeholder & regulatory engagement

  • Partner closely with Engineering, Platform, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Release teams to balance delivery outcomes with regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare and contribute to regulatory and government‑facing reporting, providing clear narratives supported by robust quality evidence.
  • Communicate complex technical and quality issues clearly to senior leaders, influencing decisions through facts, risk‑based judgement and assurance outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in software testing or quality engineering within technology delivery environments (hands‑on and/or leading teams).
  • Formal Quality Management certification (mandatory), such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, CMMI or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and enforcing quality standards, release readiness controls or assurance mechanisms in regulated or high‑risk environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern testing strategies, including automation and CI/CD quality controls.
  • Proven experience supporting regulatory, government or independent review reporting with clear, defensible evidence.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge delivery when quality standards are not met.

Highly desirable

  • Experience implementing or uplifting a QMS aligned to ISO 9001:2015 and/or CMMI Level 4/5.
  • Background in wagering, gambling, sport, racing or similarly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated success improving quality maturity and embedding new ways of working in fast‑moving or low‑baseline environments.
